Selling an inherited property in a state I don’t live in

The cash for home deal was way better

I had an uncle that lived in Jacksonville, Florida that passed away recently. He had a really big, awesome home right in the city and with water access. When he passed I inherited the property. At first I was really excited. I inherited this awesome home near water and the city. There was lots to do and the place was amazing. Then I realized that I would never tulize the place. My wife and I don’t live in Florida. We have young children so the snowbird thing can’t happen just yet. I also didn’t want to keep a large home that needed lawn care, property taxes, updates, and insurance. It would have been expensive. Renting it out would have been ridiculous. The property and home were huge. Who would rent a place like that? I realized that selling the place turned out to be the best option. I hated working with real estate agents. They don’t do any work in my opinion. The buyers always wanted more and more money off. They wanted updates. I was supposed to paint, clean, and stage. I eventually just threw in the towel and looked for Jacksonville real estate buyers. I especially searched for cash home buyers. I didn’t want to mess around with closing fees and real estate agent fees. The cash for home deal was way better. It was a one day affair to settle a price tag. I hope someday I don’t regret giving up the home, but the money was nice. I just couldn’t keep a place that big at this point in life.
